Sea To Summit Talus II Sleeping Bag
Ever since one particular cold night on the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, Morocco ๐ฒ๐ฆ 2016, I knew I needed to up-the-anti regarding my sleeping bag. As some people sleep with the fires ๐ฅ of Gondor burning in them, I on the other hand, sleep on the opposite spectrum ie. chilled!
My old Cumulus bag was purchased for my New Zealand ๐ณ๐ฟ cycle in 2012. It’s had plenty of use. It’s supposedly rated to -7 degreee comfort … bah humbug! I freeze my nuts off by that point. In fact, I do, anything near to zero!
While in Perth, Australia ๐ฆ๐บ end of the 2017, I had a browse at a Talus II in an outdoor shop. I knew that moment I coveted it! I purchased one here in the UK early 2018. I paid ยฃ289. As of the August 2018, it’s ยฃ320. Didn’t I do well! The bag was also considerably cheaper in the UK compared to Aus. But considering it’s manufactured in China ๐จ๐ณ and then probably shipped direct to the UK. I think! Missing the expensive goods market in Aus.
I’ve used Sea To Summit gear previously and been very impressed with the quality and back-up customer service. Even in the UK! And again, with this bag, the quality belies the price. One major thing that I focused on, is an anti-snag-zip ๐ค If you’ve used bags where the zips snags (all the bloody time with the Cumulus) you’ll love this zip system. It seems to be a straightforward process of a hardened layer of material next to each zip-slider. Works really well ๐
As I write this (August 2018), I’ve yet to use the bag in anger. So I’ll follow this post up with a further review once I’ve been out in the wilds ๐๏ธ
